vintage

I have been interested in vintage radio since I was a boy and have had many domestic valve radio receivers over the years. The radios below are some of my present collection which is always changing. One of my favourites is the Invicta TV I rescued from a skip in Berkhamsted. It has pride of place in my living room. I'm also pleased with my Marconi B28 which I bought at the Leicester amateur radio rally recently. I hope you enjoy having a look around my collection...

Can you help identify this TV for me? I think its an Invicta TL31 or T103 from the 1940's, but there are no identifying marks so can you help?. It came from a barn in Berkhamsted , Herts in 2004 and was destined for the skip until I liberated it. It's in good cosmetic condition but I have not tried firing it up...

I've had this set for donkey's years. It was (badly) restored at some point and is now well and truly dead. I had planned to use it as a parts doner, but never got around to buying another one.

My latest acquisition and one of my favourites. I bought this recently from ebay for under £20. It is a tiny valve radio at just 21x10.5x11cm. There are five small valves (see list) and the radio is in beautiful, working order. I love it! Can you tell me anything about this radio or manufacturer?

In the 1980's this set cost me about £5 from a local boot sale. It came with a certificate from a Mr J.W.Bright of EMI Music Archives which is signed by W.G.Bailey the Assistant Archivist. I haven't yet been able to test it but it looks good for a future full restoration.

This set has two boards - one AM and one FM. The AM board features the AF117 transistor line up and the FM board, the BF194/195 . The audio output stage employs seven transistors (2x BC108's, 2xAC128's, 1x OC71 & 1x AC176). I can't recall where I acquired this set, but it did sound rather good the last time I turned it on!
